Thanks to the faithful and continued support of our donors, Linaje Del Rey has been able to continue their outreach programs and ministries. Here is a snapshot of how your contributions help our partner church to help those in need.
Each year Pastor Ruben and his congregation hold a Christmas party for the disadvantaged children from their neighboring communities. For many of the children at this party, the gift they receive on this day may be the only gift they receive throughout the entire year. However, with Covid lock-downs in place Pastor Ruben and his church had to improvise an alternative to their usual party plans.
Buying gifts for the children took a bit more time and effort this year because only one member of the church could enter the store to shop for the necessary items. Once all the gifts were purchased, they were organized for distribution.
Instead of holding a party at the church, Pastor Ruben and members of the congregation delivered the gifts directly to the children and their families at their homes. During the visits the church members would also take time to pray over the children and their families, giving some much needed hope after an undoubtedly difficult year.
Thanks to your donations and our partner church’s determination the church was able to stay within the lock-down orders while still putting a smile on the face of many children.
Pastor Ruben and his church also hold food drives in which they collect food and toiletry items for distribution to people in the community who are struggling financially. The grocery items are packed in lidded baskets and then delivered to the community members in need. When the church members go to deliver the baskets it gives them the chance to talk to the people and to pray for them and their households.
Our partner church has also been holding a children’s program every Sunday at La Pila. Members of the congregation take prepared lunches to the children, play games with them and teach them about Jesus. This ministry has been a great addition to the church’s programs and the congregation looks forward to continuing their work with the children at La Pila.
The members of Linaje Del Rey like to be hands on in the community which sometimes means having the opportunity to help neighbors with home repairs. Some people have houses with packed dirt floors and roofs made of wood logs, bound with rope and covered with rippled sheet metal. Homes like these can take a serious beating over time especially in Ecuador’s climate. The church’s willingness and ability to help people repair these damages provides safer, longer-lasting homes to those in need.
The church also helps to provide necessary items to community members who are having financial difficulties while dealing with medical issues. They recently provided a new mattress to an elderly man who was healing from an ankle injury and had been sleeping on an old beat up mattress which was not good for his recovery.
Thanks to your continued support and donations, our partner church continues to grow and has been able to do more good and reach more people in need.
